Former Home Minister Umar Naseer have said that a President of Maldives resigned because of wine.
Earlier today he tweeted saying that wealth, women, and wine makes good people bad and that wine made a president resign and wealth made a president go politically blind.
It appears that Umar was referring to President Nasheed, since he is the only President in Maldives to have resigned in recent history.
Many people criticized Umar Naseer for saying that women make good people bad and some accused him of being sexist. Replying to some of the tweets, he said that “a womanizing president got lynched” possibly referring to Mohamed Ameen the first president of the Maldives.
It should be noted that, there are no historical evidences which shows that Mohamed Ameen was a womanizer or was removed from power because he was a womanizer. Umar Naseer is known for making controversial statements like this on twitter from time to time.
