Combating terrorism will not be possible for a country if it stood alone، said Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Baghir.
Representative of the President of Maldives to the 13th Islamic Summit، Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ziyad delivered the statement from the Maldives on Friday. The 13th Islamic Summit under the theme Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace started on 14 April 2016 and has concluded on Friday.
In his statement Minister Dr. Ziyad called on the Islamic Ummah to unite to combat against terrorism as it is the biggest threat for world peace.
Noting that Maldives is on front-lines in the combat against terrorism، Dr. Ziyad said that it is a must to initiate the efforts regionally and globally.
He also stated that Peace in the region can only be achieved through Independence of Palestine. He further stated that terrorism and religious extremism are challenges faced in our Ummah and can only be addressed through solidarity.
At the conclusion of the Summit، the Leaders will adopt a final Communique and also resolution supporting the cause of Palestine.
Minister Dr. Ziyad is accompanied in the Summit by Ambassador of Maldives to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mr. Abdulla Hameed، and officials from the Ministry and Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
Prior to the Summit، preparatory meetings of Senior Officials and Council of Foreign Ministers were held.
