Criminal Court has issued a warrant to arrest former President Nasheed، Former Vice President Jameel and former chairman of RajjeTV Akram Kamaaluddin.
According to police they want to arrest Nasheed for two reasons. The first reason is to question him regarding 1.8 million Rufiyaa corruption during his administration. The second reason is because he did not return to Maldives after he was given sent abroad for medical reasons.
Warrants on Jameel and Akram were issued because they fail to appear at the police station after police issued summon orders. Police said that since they failed to appear at the police station، they will be arrested and then questioned.
According to some sources Nasheed is currently in Sri Lanka. Jameel is yet to join him. Both of them are political refugees in the UK.
