Next trip to Dhihdhoo will be on a flight to Dhihdhoo Airport: President Muizzu

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that his next visit to Haa Alif atoll Dhihdhoo will be on a flight that will land at the island's airport.
At his fourth destination on his official visit to Haa Alif atoll, the President stopped on the island of Dhihdhoo last night. He was welcomed at a special ceremony featuring traditional dances by the island's youth. Rows of people congregated to greet him on his arrival.
Speaking to residents of Dhihdhoo, President Muizzu said that the development of the airport in the island is a project the government places significant importance on.
He pledged to fulfil his pledge during the presidential election campaign of developing the island's airport.
"We will work at expedited speeds to complete the project. We will do that, and god willing, my next trip to Dhihdhoo will be on a flight that lands at this airport, when I come to inaugurate it," he said.

On the island of Dhihdhoo, the President was met with some banners flown by the opposition, accusing him of failing to fulfil his pledges. There were also opposition members raising voices against him. In his speech, the President responded to this as well.
"I have a feeling that once the airport is completed, it is people with political differences to us who will be the first to take tickets and fly here," he said.
He said that political ideologies are not important, adding that development is not a political activity. All citizens are equal to him, he asserted.

"Development brought to the country, to an island, that is not political. That is a planned, serious work carried out for the future of our children and their children. For all citizens to cooperate in such work is a service to themselves as well," he said.
President Muizzu said that the airport project would be proceeded at speed within the year. He further said that land reclamation and shore protection efforts will also be completed this year.
Last night, ID card printing services were also inaugurated on the island.
