President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured the people of HA. Molhadhoo that development projects for their island are just as important to him as those undertaken for the largest islands.
He assured residents that their hopes and needs would be addressed with the same priority, fairness and efficiency extended to all other islands.
During his visit to the islands of North Thiladhunmathi Atoll, President Dr Muizzu met with the residents of Molhadhoo and highlighted Molhadhoo's potential for local tourism development. He guaranteed the provision of essential utilities – electricity, water and sewerage services – to areas designated by the Molhadhoo Island Council for local tourism projects.
Although the previously initiated water and sewerage project faced direct implementation challenges, the President confirmed that work would proceed systematically in coordination with relevant authorities.
The President committed to resolving the suspended water and sewerage project, similar to solutions being implemented on other Maldivian islands. He also promised to address the stalled waste management issue, announcing plans to develop a modern waste management centre in Molhadhoo.
Acknowledging that quality education is a fundamental right regardless of population size, the President pledged to overcome challenges facing the island's education sector. He similarly assured solutions to healthcare difficulties, confirming that both sectors would receive funding in this year's budget.
Emphasising the current Government's focus on public health, the President announced plans for a fully equipped fitness and recreation centre in Molhadhoo, along with the development of futsal grounds and volleyball courts.
Furthermore, he confirmed the imminent implementation of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry system, with plans to transfer the ferry terminal to council management. Given Molhadhoo's substantial land area, President Dr Muizzu urged the island council to facilitate land allocation processes for those requiring housing plots.
