The Islamic library, developed to modern standards at Salman Mosque, was inaugurated on Saturday night.
The library was inaugurated by Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer during a special ceremony held for the purpose.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed highlighted the collective effort that went into establishing the library. He appealed for donations to the library.
According to the Minister, several people have already pledged to donate over 60,000 books to the library, with the paperwork related to the donations now complete.
Despite the library’s opening, the Minister acknowledged that some improvements are still needed.
“By the will of Almighty, we will establish a children’s corner in this Islamic library. We will also establish a corner specific for Islamic banking and financing,” he added.
The Minister also announced plans to develop Islamic libraries at Islamic centres, which are soon to be inaugurated. They include:
R. Ungoofaaru Islamic centre
HA. Dhidhdhoo Islamic centre
GDh. Thinadhoo Islamic centre

According to Islamic Ministry, there are over 15,000 books at the library at present. The Ministry emphasised that the library was developed to modern standards, ensuring a welcoming environment for users.
The inauguration of the library coincided with National Library Day. The development if Islamic libraries at Islamic centres across the Maldives is an electoral pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
