Maldives to strengthen links at Routes Asia 2026 Forum

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) and the International Halal Tourism Organisation will take part in the Routes Asia 2026 Forum to strengthen the Maldives’ position as the world’s leading tourism destination.
The forum will be held 14–16 April in Xi’an, China, and is the largest air transport event in the Asia-Pacific region. It will bring together airlines, airports, tourism authorities, and industry leaders to discuss the future of aviation.
According to VMC, a key goal of the Maldives’ participation in the forum is to strengthen international air connectivity and expand tourism into emerging markets. Over 900 aviation decision-makers are expected to attend the event.
The initiative is supported by the Chinese embassies in Maldives and Beijing, and reflects stronger tourism and aviation ties between China and the Maldives, the corporation said.
Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), which operates the national airline Maldivian, will play a key role in the event. Its participation highlight the priority given by theMaldives to development of the aviation sector infrastructure, VMC said.
