19-year-old Finn eyes Maldives holiday with twin sister after winning ‘Penalty to Paradise’

Visit Maldives Corporation, in partnership with Liverpool Football Club (LFC), has announced the winner of the “Penalty to Paradise” campaign, a football-led destination promotion that connected global fan engagement with the opportunity to experience the Maldives.
The competition brought together 50 LFC members in a sudden-death penalty shootout challenge, where the final remaining contestant won an all-expenses-paid holiday to the Maldives, including a stay at Kandima Maldives.
After multiple rounds and surprise side challenges, Finley McGovern, 19, emerged as the winner and secured the grand prize.
Reacting to his win, Finn said he was “speechless.”
“I can’t speak. I don’t know what to say,” he responded.
When asked who he would take with him to the Maldives, he chose his twin sister, who had also taken part in the competition, but was eliminated earlier in the shootout.
The contest featured a series of high-pressure penalty rounds, guest appearances, and creative challenges, including no-look penalties and Panenka attempts, with additional prizes awarded along the way.
The final stages saw Finn advance through sudden death to claim the Maldives getaway.
The campaign culminated with the release of the full episode across Liverpool FC’s YouTube and social media platforms on Monday, extending its reach to the club’s global digital audience.
“Penalty to Paradise” formed part of Visit Maldives’ ongoing global partnership with Liverpool FC, under which the Maldives serves as the club’s official tourist destination partner for the 2025–2028 seasons.
The campaign combined premium LED branding at Anfield Stadium with interactive digital content, designed to engage fans while reinforcing the Maldives’ position as a leading leisure and lifestyle destination.
