National weather forecasting body, Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) states Maldives can expect nationwide rain next three days as southwest monsoon intensifies.
Speaking with Sun, an official from Met Office said southwest monsoon which the Maldives is currently experiencing has begun to intensify. As such, the official detailed that Maldives can expect nationwide rain this week, with thunderstorms and strong winds.
The weather conditions will likely improve starting next week, the official added.
According to Met Office, rain is likely in northern and central Maldivian regions in the next 24 hours. In the northern region, winds are expected to blow from the west to northwest at speeds of 5 to 15 miles per hour, while other regions will experience winds from the southwest to west at 8 to 18 miles per hour.
The sea is expected to be calm in the northern atolls and moderately rough in the other regions.
