VP urges everyone to actively contribute to rebuilding Maldives’ economy

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef on Tuesday called on all Maldivians to actively participate in the development and rebuilding of a strong and prosperous national economy.
He made these remarks at the launch of the National Human Capital Needs Assessment Survey Report.
Speaking at the event, Hussain noted that creating new employment opportunities over the next five years is a key commitment under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s manifesto.
He said that significant efforts have been initiated under the last one-and-a-half years to fulfil this goal.
He highlighted that the cabinet has resolved to identify sectors where employment will be reserved exclusively for Maldivians. He also noted the introduction of targeted incentives to increase Maldivian participation in essential service sectors such as health and education, as well as the launch of the National Service Program and other focused economic initiatives.

He underscored the collective responsibility of the people in national development.
Every Maldivian has a role to play in building and sustaining a financially resilient and thriving nation, he said.
Hussain also acknowledged the responsibility of the government to ensuring that the benefits of new employment and income-generating opportunities reach all citizens.
The National Human Capital Needs Assessment Survey Report was conducted jointly by the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development and the World Bank.
The study aimed to identify gaps in the labor market, outline the skills required for various jobs, and highlight the challenges faced by local youth in the workforce.
The findings will inform both short-term and long-term strategies aligned with the priorities outlined in President Muizzu’s manifesto.
