The final report by the Special Presidential Commission into the incident that occurred in Malé on April 18, 2025 has been published in its entirety on The President’s Office website, following instructions by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
This is the first time in Maldivian history that an incident report by such a Commission has been made fully accessible to the public by a sitting government.
The Commission was established on April 27, 2025 to carry out an independent, autonomous, and credible investigation into the case of a young individual found collapsed on a rooftop in Malé. It was mandated to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident, review the actions of relevant institutions, recommend necessary measures, and ensure a fair and impartial inquiry process.
The Commission fulfilled its mandate within 52 days of its establishment, marking the fastest time for such a Commission to do so.
