President unveils ambitious plans for 2,130 projects to fulfil national commitments

At a press conference held this morning at the President’s Office, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced an ambitious plan comprising a remarkable 2,130 projects, aimed at fulfilling his commitments to the Maldivian people. This announcement is part of his ongoing efforts to address pressing national challenges and enhance the quality of life across the country.
The President outlined the wide-ranging nature of these infrastructural and social initiatives, categorising his pledges as follows: 289 commitments linked to his original manifesto, 1,051 made during his presidential campaign, 484 pledges made during island visits, and a further 305 projects announced at various public events.
Addressing the nation’s most pressing issues, the President reaffirmed the Government’s determination to confront these challenges decisively. Among the notable projects is the redevelopment of flats in the Sinamale’ and Malé Hiyaa neighbourhoods. This project dates back to his tenure as Mayor of Malé City, when the original agreement was signed. He noted that the City Council would oversee the implementation, allowing residents of the existing flats to redevelop their properties by constructing new buildings following the demolition of the current structures.
The Administration also plans to leverage the advantages of digital technology through a comprehensive digitalisation policy. On the 9th of this month, a digitalisation conference will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the implementation of the Maldives 2.0 project; an initiative aimed at fully digitising government operations over the next three years. This transformation is regarded as essential to modernising governance and improving public access to services.
During the press conference, the President demonstrated a commitment to transparency by engaging with questions from journalists.
