Tourist arrivals to the Maldives in the first quarter has increased compared to the same period last year.
The statistics publicized by the tourism ministry shows that by March 359,053 tourists visited Maldives. Last year 344166 tourists visited in the same period. Thus, there is an increase of 4.3 percent this year. In addition, the number of tourists who visited Maldives in March 2017 has increased compared to 2016. In march 2017 115131 tourists visited while 112665 tourists visited in the previous year. There is a 4.3 percent increase in March as well.
Tourism industry is booming in the Maldives in the last couple of years. At the moment 20 resorts are undergoing development which will be open in the upcoming year. Additional tourist resorts will also increase the tourist arrivals.
