President conveys condolences to late Mohamed Zahir's family

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Saturday, extended condolences to the family of Mohamed Zahir, a state dignitary who passed away earlier the same day.
At the time of his death in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Zahir was 92-years-old and had struggled with a prolonged period of illness.
Zahir served in the government for more than 63 years, including various senior posts.
Notably, Zahir served as the parliamentarian for the constituencies of Faadhippolhu, Fuvahmulah, and Kolhumadulu. He was also the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Minister of State and Principle Collector of Customs.
At the official ceremony of Independence day 2011, Former President Mohamed Nasheed conferred the Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen upon Zahir.
He is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters.
