Police have arrested an outbound traveler from the Velana International Airport for possession of drugs. 
Police identified the suspect as a Maldivian male. 
He was arrested on Monday evening. 
“We are conducting necessary investigations in connection to this,” said a police spokesperson. 
Police have not disclose any additional details regarding the case. 
An eye witness told Sun the man was arrested outside the gift shop – Dhovemi. 
The man tore open the drug package during the arrest, and the police collected the drugs off the floor into evidence bags. 
The case is under investigation by police.
