Minister at the President’s Office, Ahmed Zuhoor said that the MDP government, devalued the currency, reduced salary of civil servants by 20% and raised the price of goods and services in the country, instead of fulfilling their promise of developing the country’s economy.
Zuhoor said that the people of Maldives were at a poor state because of gross mismanagement by the MDP government. He noted that MDP promised to make the people rich and reduce the debts of individuals to “corner shops”. He said that however, by the time Nasheed resigned, people got poorer and debts doubled.
Zuhoor said that, the condition of the people is now improving even though there are some challenges. He highlighted that various developmental projects have been completed and many more are underway. “So the opposition knows that they will lose in the election. That is why they are trying so hard to find a way to get back in power through other means” said Zuhoor.
Minister Zuhoor asked the opposition to work responsibly and try to get back into power by contesting in the upcoming elections.
The only thing MDP ever did was devaluing our currency and deducting the salaries by 20% - Minister Zuhoor.
