President Dr Muizzu extends Waitangi Day greetings to the Governor-General and Prime Minister of New Zealand

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to Her Excellency Dame Cindy Kiro, GNZM, QSO, Governor-General of New Zealand, and His Excellency Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, on the occasion of Waitangi Day.
In separate letters to the leaders, President Dr Muizzu emphasised the strong friendship between the Maldives and New Zealand and reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to further strengthening collaboration across various sectors, including climate action and sustainable development.
The President additionally extended his best wishes for the good health and well-being of the Governor-General and Prime Minister, as well as the continued prosperity and peace of the people of New Zealand.
Waitangi Day, marking the anniversary of the signing of New Zealand’s founding document, the “Treaty of Waitangi,” is celebrated every year on the 6th of February. The Maldives and New Zealand established diplomatic relations on October 10, 1974.
Earlier today, the President also shared a post on his official X account in celebration of Waitangi Day.
