President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has specified the Dhivehi and English names for inhabited islands, atolls, and atoll administrative codes to be used in official documents.
Following this decision, all official documentations, publications, information management systems, databases, websites, and social media platforms must follow the specified Dhivehi and English names for islands, atolls, and administrative codes as listed in decree number 2/2025 (Establishing inhabited islands in Maldives).
