Maldives welcomed over 200,000 tourists in January 2024, marking an 11.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism.
China led the list of top tourist markets, with 31,388 visitors arriving by January 29, reinforcing its position as the largest source market for the Maldives.

In terms of accommodation preferences, 69.7 percent of tourists stayed in resorts, while 25.5 percent chose guesthouses. Additionally, 4,907 visitors stayed in tourist hotels, and 4,613 tourists opted for liveaboards.
The Maldives continues to experience strong momentum in tourism, reflecting its status as a leading global destination.
