Maldives Parliament Endorses New Non-Resident Envoys for Kazakhstan, Mauritius

The Parliament has officially endorsed the appointment of non-resident ambassadors to Kazakhstan and Mauritius, expanding the country's diplomatic representation to Central Asia and the Indian Ocean.
The appointments, which were proposed by the President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, received unanimous backing from the members present during the the Parliament sitting on Monday.
Aishath Azima, currently serving as the Maldives High Commissioner to India, was approved to concurrently serve as the Maldives non-resident envoy to Kazakhstan—a key move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with the strategic Central Asian nation. Concurrently, Masood Imad, the Maldives High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, was confirmed for the role of non-resident Ambassador to Mauritius.
Both nominations were first thoroughly reviewed by the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, which recommended the approval of both candidates after consideration.
