President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed this afternoon on an official visit to Sri Lanka.
This visit, taking place from 3 to 6 of this month, is being undertaken at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
During the visit, the President will meet with senior Sri Lankan officials and hold discussions aimed at further strengthening the existing ties between the two countries. In addition, talks will focus on exploring new avenues for cooperation in areas such as education, technical training, economic collaboration, and other sectors, as well as enhancing cooperation in regional and international forums.
Furthermore, in the presence of both Presidents, agreements are scheduled to be signed to strengthen cooperation across various sectors. The President is also expected to attend the Maldives–Sri Lanka Business Forum and meet Maldivian nationals living in Sri Lanka.
This visit is expected to further reinforce the close relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka across multiple areas of mutual interest. It follows the official visit made to the Maldives by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake from 28 to 30 July 2025.His visit coincided with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, which were formally established on 26 July 1965.
