Renowned Maldivian film director Abdul Faththaah dies of a sudden heart attack

Renowned former Maldivian film director Abdul Faththaah has passed away after suffering a heart attack.
H.A. Kelaa Council President Abdullah Infaz confirmed to Sun that Faththaah fell ill suddenly this evening. He was first taken to the island health centre after experiencing chest pain, and was later transferred to the Atoll Hospital.
Faththaah was contesting the Kelaa council presidential primary of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) at the time of his passing.
One of the most influential figures in the Maldivian film industry, Faththaah retired from filmmaking in 2017. Over his career, he directed numerous hit films, including Hahdhu (2017), which became a major success among local audiences and marked his final release before stepping away from the industry.
