Mohamed Viaam has been selected as the Ha. Utheemu Aligadha Thari Quran Competition 1444.
During the closing ceremony held last Wednesday night, winners of the competition were selected. The winner of the competition was awarded with MVR 8000, for second place MVR 5000, and for third place MVR 3000. Moreover, a trophy and a certificate was awarded for each category and each age group winners of first, second, and third place.
The top five of the competition are:
Mohamed Viaam (1st place)
Mohamed Ailam Abdulla (2nd place)
Latheefa Mohamed (3rd place)
Aminath Aishaan Abdulla (4th place)
Aishath Yanaal Nasih (5th place)
The purposes of the competition were to inculcate love for reciting the Holy Quran in the hearts of the people, to revive the art of reciting the Holy Quran, encouraging to memorize the Holy Quran, to encourage the developing Qari’s and Hafiz’s, to work towards protecting the Holy Quran, to create religious awareness, and to develop participants who can compete at national competitions.
The competition was held for three days from the 14th day of Ramadan. The island-level competition was open to all age groups people in Utheemu. Furthermore, competition was held for 5 age groups. They are foundation stage, below 7 years, 11 below years, below 16 years, and above 16 years. And except for foundation stage participants were given the opportunity to participate in memorized and non-memorized category, for foundation stage participants were given opportunity to participate in memorized category only.
The annual Quran competition held during the holy month of Ramadan by Utheemu Council was held this year in collaboration with Wingers, a registered club in the island.
