The United Nations (UN) has welcomed the President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s recognition of the crucial role played by civil service employees in good governance. The UN expressed support in a post shared on social media on the occasion of UN Public Service Day.
In a post on social media on the occasion of the United Nations Public Service Day, the President said that public servants are pillars of good governance and are central to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). He also extended his gratitude to public servants and institutions for their cooperation and assistance in the development of the country.
Sharing the President’s message, the UN stated that it acknowledges the dedication of public servants across the Maldives, and that it welcomes President Muizzu’s recognition of their role as pillars of good governance essential to delivering on the SDGs and building a better future for all.
UN Public Service Day is celebrated on 23 June every year. This day is celebrated to recognise and honour the work of public servants, and encourage youth to consider careers in government institutions and agencies.
