Idhuhaam Hussain, the board's advisor for Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) was removed from her position on Tuesday, June 24th.
An MMA media official confirmed Idhuhaam's termination of Advisor to the central bank's Monetary Policy and Research and Statistics section, but did not disclose the reason for her dismissal.
Notably, several other key figures who held senior positions at the central bank had resigned earlier this eyar, including Shuhad Ibrahim, who represented the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade at MMA's board and Ahmed Zayan Mohamed who represented Ministry of Finance at the board.
The Deputy Governor, Ahmed Imad had also resigned from his post after objecting to the government's decision for a significant overdraft from the central bank back in March.
Imad resigned shortly after it was rumored that the government intended on generating MVR 15 billion by way of a land sale from Hulhumale' to MMA - a controversial decision that directed widespread criticism.
Idhuham, the outgoing MMA board's advisor is the sister of Ilham Hussain, the Special Envoy to the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan's wife.
Idhuham had served at the central bank for 35 years.
