First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has extended warm greetings to the nation on the occasion of the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day.
In a social media post, the First Lady offered a prayer that every day that dawns upon the country continues to bring the people of Maldives the enduring joy of freedom. She extended her heartfelt wishes to all Maldivians on the occasion of Independence Day.
The Maldives’ Independence Day is celebrated annually on 26 July, commemorating the day the Maldives gained full independence from the British Protectorate in 1965. The Maldives was under British protection for 77 years until the 1965 agreement was signed 60 years ago.
This year's Independence Day will be commemorated with vibrant celebrations, with both President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and the First Lady joining the festivities.
