Thilauthuru Futsal Tournament: Utheemu Revives Hope with a Win Against Hoarafushi

Utheemu secured a 4-3 victory against Hoarafushi in the match played this afternoon as part of the “Thilauthuru Futsal Tournament 2025,” organized by the Haa Alifu Atoll Council and open to the islands of the atoll. In today’s match, which is being held in Utheemu, Utheemu took the initial lead. Utheemu’s first goal was scored in the 16th minute when Utheemu’s jersey number 7, Ahmed Mazeen, shot the ball towards the Hoarafushi goal, and Utheemu’s jersey number 16, Rishwan Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa, who was near the goalkeeper, secured the ball and put it into the net. The lead was extended for Utheemu by jersey number 17, Mohamed Ailam Abdulla, who scored the second goal. This goal was scored by Ailam after he dribbled past Hoarafushi’s Imdhad and slotted the ball low into the corner of the goal. Just before the end of the first half, Hoarafushi scored their first goal. This goal was scored by Hoarafushi’s jersey number 11, Ali Ziyad Mohamed, who went on to score all three of Hoarafushi’s goals in the match. The first half ended with Utheemu leading 2-1. In the second half, Utheemu’s lead was further extended by jersey number 7, Ahmed Mazeen. Shortly after Mazeen’s goal, Utheemu’s fourth goal was scored by Rishwan Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa. With Utheemu leading 4-1, Hoarafushi’s Ali Ziyad scored two more goals, narrowing the score difference to 4-3. The final goal was a penalty successfully converted by Ziyad in the very last minute of the match, awarded after the ball struck the hand of Utheemu’s Rifau inside the penalty area. The Man of the Match was Rishwan Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa, who scored two goals for Utheemu. This was the third match played by these two teams in Group A of the tournament. Prior to today’s match, Utheemu had drawn both of its previous matches. Following today’s defeat, Hoarafushi is yet to secure a win in the tournament. Both teams still have one match remaining. Another match in the tournament will be played tonight. The match, starting at 8:30 PM, will feature Filladhoo and the reigning champions, Ihavandhoo.
