ATM Services Now Available Across 11 Atolls, Including Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll

Bank of Maldives (BML) has established Self-Service ATMs in five islands of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and two islands of Gaafu Alifu Atolls, with the bank’s ATM network now spreading across all inhabited islands of the two atolls. With this expansion, ATM services are now available on every inhabited island across 11 atolls.
New ATMs were launched in Fiyoaree, Rathafandhoo, Nadella, Hoandedhdhoo and Madaveli of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, and Kondey and Kanduhulhudhoo in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
The inauguration ceremonies were attended by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr Abdulla Muththalib, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, BML’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef and senior officials of the bank.
The new ATM centres will provide 24-hour access to essential banking services, including cash withdrawal, deposit, and transfer facilities, for both individuals and businesses.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Muththalib said businesses in the atolls must have access to the same banking services as those in the capital. He noted that with the installation of the new ATMs, businesses in the atolls can deposit their cash to the bank daily. There is no reason similar services cannot be provided within the atoll, he said, adding that the government’s initiative to install ATMs in all inhabited islands promises growth and expansion for these small businesses.
BML’s CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said it is a great privilege to witness the inauguration of the bank’s new ATM network, a significant milestone that marks a new milestone of financial inclusion and accessibility for the people. He said the bank’s commitment has always been to serve the communities, and with the installation of these ATMs across all inhabited islands, the bank is delivering on that promise.
Shareef further said the bank’s investment in the new ATM centres reflects its unwavering commitment to bringing banking closer to its customers. The people of the two atolls will no longer have to travel to other islands for their banking, he said.
Bank of Maldives is the country’s leading financial institution, with an extensive network comprising 42 branches across all 20 atolls, 163 Self Service Banking Centres, 222 ATMs, comprehensive Agent Banking Services, and advanced Digital Banking solutions.
