Two new schools to be build in Hulhumale’ this year

The government will commence two new school projects in Hulhumale’ this year, Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu has revealed.
Speaking at Monday’s Parliament sitting, Minister Shafeeu said when building flats in Hulhumale’, plans must also be made for buildings that provide services for the population that resides in the area. He pointed out that while 7,000 flats were built in Hulhumale’ Phase II under the Hiyaa project, an adequate number of schools were not built to accommodate the growing population.
The minister noted that there are no school near SIFCO, Polco and Apollo towers in Hulhumale’, which causes inconveniences to the residents living in these buildings.
"There are serious challenges in Hulhumale’. Resolving those challenges is one of our top priorities. We will hopefully begin two school projects this year," Shafeeu said.
He said one of the schools will built in Hulhumale’ Phase I while the second school will be built in Phase II. In addition, the 54-classroom school project initiated in Hulhumale’ by the current government will be completed by November this year, he said.
