The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy merges with the Ministry of Tourism to form the 'Ministry of Tourism and Environment'

The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy and the Ministry of Tourism have been merged and renamed as the 'Ministry of Tourism and Environment' under the President's authority, as conferred by Article 116(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives. This development was announced through an official directive issued by the President's Office today.
According to a directive, the Environmental Protection Agency, Utility Regulatory Authority, Maldives Meteorological Service, and the Biosphere Reserve Office of the former Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy will now operate under the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, effective immediately.
Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment has assumed responsibility for several key initiatives, including efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change in the Maldives, environmental protection, energy, water, sanitation, waste management, tourism, and biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, the Ministry will continue these efforts as previously undertaken.
The official designation for the Ministry is 'Ministry of Tourism and Environment.'
With the new changes in effect, all correspondence directed to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment will now use the number 88.
