Local telecom company Dhiraagu's subsidiary Dhiraagu Fintech launched Dhiraagu pay with a new platform and added features yesterday.
The launching ceremony's chief guest was Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)'s Governor Ahmed Munawwar.
At the ceremony, the governor said Dhiraagu is the most appropriate entity to provide the necessary assistance to banks in providing digital solutions to strengthen the country's financial system. He said the two sides could work together to increase investment in Maldives through technology and innovation.
Ismail Rasheed, Dhiraagu's CEO and Managing Director, who also serves as the Chairman of Dhiraagu Fintech, said the Dhiraagu Pay platform has now been upgraded to a sophisticated payment system instead of simply being an e-wallet.
Dhiraagu's network is the strongest digital infrastructure network in Maldives and because of this, Dhiraagu's next goal is to introduce more digital services to customers, businesses and society, he said. Rasheed also said he hoped the changes would make the lives of customers more prosperous and the help country would grow further.
Rasheed went on to say that the new changes to Dhiraagu Pay are an important step in the right direction for the company.
Dhiraagu Fintech's Managing Director Fazleena Fakir said the upgrade would revolutionise the way transactions take place in the country, and that Dhiraagu Pay is a secure and convenient platform that can be used anytime and anywhere. The vision of Dhiraagu Pay is to provide fintech solutions to all parties without excluding anyone, she said.
The upgraded Dhiraagu Pay platform now offers bill splitting, sub-wallet, peer-to-peer transfer, Favara transfer and bill payment. The remaining funds in the accounts of those who were using the previous platform will be securely transferred to the new platform, she also assured.
