A suspect in a rape case, who was at large until he recently surrendered to the Police, has been found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Izaam Zahir, 25, Sabaaha Manzil, GDh. Vaadhoo, has been on the run since July 2024.
After one and a half years on the run, Izaam surrendered to the Police on Saturday.
The Police had made nine public announcements seeking to locate Izaam.
Izaam was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday. However, as trials in rape cases are held behind closed doors, the details of the case remain unclear.
