The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has officially unveiled its new premium product line, “Ranvaru”, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to innovate and expand its presence in the domestic market.
The launch ceremony, held at MIFCO’s “Masfihaara” complex in Male’, was presided over by Acting Chairman Shimaaz and attended by CEO Brigadier General (Retd) Faruhath Shaheer, Strategic Consultant Aathif Shakoor, senior executives, and staff.
Designed as a premium sub-brand under MIFCO’s well-established Fasmeeru label, Ranvaru represents the company’s first dedicated brand tailored specifically for high-quality products aimed at discerning local consumers.
The new brand debuted with five carefully crafted offerings—Canned Yellowfin Steak, Canned Yellowfin Belly, Rihaakuru (with assorted tuna parts), Rihaakuru (with minced smoked tuna), and Spicy Rihaakuru (with minced smoked tuna). Each product is produced to meet the same rigorous quality standards as MIFCO’s export-grade items, ensuring freshness, flavor, and authenticity.
Speaking at the event, MIFCO’s General Manager of Local Sales and Marketing, Hassan Zahid Mohamed, emphasised the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
“With Ranvaru, we are delivering premium seafood that reflects the tastes and expectations of the Maldivian people. This is just the beginning—more varieties will be added to the line in the coming months,” he said.
A highlight of the evening was a live product tasting session, where guests sampled the new range and praised the bold flavours and superior texture. The launch underscores MIFCO’s strategic focus on diversifying its portfolio, adding value to locally sourced tuna, and strengthening its domestic market footprint.
In addition to the premium Ranvaru line, the company plans to introduce economy packs in the near future to cater to a broader consumer base. Ranvaru products are now available at MIFCO retail outlets across the Male’ region, with free sampling available at the Masfihaara for a limited time.
The introduction of this premium brand signifies a pivotal step in MIFCO’s mission to support sustainable fisheries, empower local communities, and position Maldivian seafood at the forefront of both national and international markets.
