All three defendants charged with murdering Jailam Ahmed Shakir from H. Hundred Flowers have plead innocent to the charges.
Ismail Aneeq from Sinamale has been charged with premeditated murder using a sharp weapon; while Naseeb Saeed from S. Feydhoo and Ali Irufan from Gn. Fuvahmulah have been charged with being accessories to murder. All three of them denied the charges during the hearing on the case held on Monday and requested for time to hire a lawyer.
Another suspect in the case, Mohamed Humaid from G. A. Vilingili is still on the run despite red notice issued by Interpol.
During the hearing, State prosecutor said that Aneeq, Naseeb, Irufan and another individual had showed up on two motorcycles while Jailam was near H. Hundred Flowers on February 21, 2015 at around 10 pm.
And that the individual with Aneeq had attacked Jailam with a 12 inch blade, while Aneeq kicked and punched him.
And that Naseeb and Irufan had driven off afterwards with the two assailants and tried to hide them from the authorities.
