After concluding his trip to Laamu atoll, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has returned to capital city Male’ on Saturday night.
During his trip, President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed had participated in the five-kilometer marathon hosted by TFG in Gan on Saturday morning.
President Solih had also visited several institutions in the region as well as the Gan island council on Saturday evening.
Meeting with council members, President Solih had held discussions on resolving housing issues as well as creating more job opportunities by investing in tourism, migrating other island residents to the island, initiating road development and the health sector as well as solving challenged faced in the education sector.
Members had shared concerns regarding the administration of the council and the challenges faced in carrying out their work. They also briefed the President on the aspiration of the people of Gan to develop their community.
Also, on Saturday evening, President Solih met senior officials of some institutions on the island where he inquired about the current situation and the challenges surfacing for the work being carried out there.
In this regard, the President discussed on finding solutions for the challenges at hand.
Visiting the Regional Hospital in Gan, President Solih emphasized that health facilities are a “core part” of a community’s wellbeing. Therefore, he assured that his administration will look closely into the matter after officials at the hospital briefed him on the administrational work of the hospital and pending requirements for operative productivity.
Hospital officials shared that they have been facing electricity issues, shortage of employees as well as a lack of ambulances.
Further, President Solih also met with 23 relocated individuals of Gaadhoo community, residing in Fonadhoo of the same atoll.
During the meeting, Gaadhoo residents shared their current situation, emphasizing on the issues they are currently facing.
The residents especially shed light on housing issues. They discussed ways through which they may overcome said issues.
In this regard, President Solih assured the resident that the government will prioritize remedies for the issues they have shared.
