The Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s Office has condemned the Government for fabricating lies against the former president، and called on the government to stop the ill-act immediately.
In a press statement issued yesterday، Nasheed’s Office has noted that using several mediums، the government is continuously fabricating lies against Nasheed’s trial، appeal process and the sentence.
Nasheed’s Office highlighted that the government had propagated false information that Nasheed was given enough time to appeal his sentence but he didn’t use his legal rights، and that PG appealed in High Court by Nasheed’s request.
Furthermore، the Office noted that Government had also disseminated wrong information to the media that Nasheed did not cooperate with PG during appeal، that Nasheed had confessed that he abducted criminal court chief judge، and also that the final decision on UN Working Group’s opinion on Nasheed will be resolved by the Supreme Court.
Condemning the fabrications، Nasheed’s office called on the government to immediately stop the ‘unacceptable acts’.
