"Strict disciplinary act must be taken against members interfering Majlis proceedings" – Ali Amir

Kuda-Huvadhoo constituency MDA representative member of Parliament Ali Amir، urges to take strict action against Majlis members violating regulations of Parliament code of conduct.
With the arrest and jailing of former President Mohamed Nasheed، MDP representative members in Parliament had initiated discordant inside the chambers، with mega phones، football whistles and trumpets. Interfering with Majlis proceedings had become a routine modus operandi of MDP members since the first seating of Majlis since this year’s term beginning.
So far، Majlis seatings had not been proceeded competently as it had been interrupted and cancelled over the disturbances caused by some of the members present inside the chambers.
Ali Amir، speaking to “Vaguthu Online” states General Committee has passed the motion to amend the Majlis regulations in order to deduce committee allowance from members initiating protests and disturbances inside Majlis chambers، as well as a 3 month period for such members barring access or entry into chambers to participate in seatings.
“People’s Majlis must be a place where active work for the benefit and development of the country and its’ citizens must be carried out” MDA’s deputy leader Amir stated.
In addition to this، a deduction of 50% from allowance will be subjected to any Parliament member who denies to leave Majlis proceeding following the individuals name being called out، to leave، at any given and relevant circumstances.
