Muslims often talk about covering up. However, this time it is being talked about by the Home Minister of Karnataka State G.Paranesh Vara.
Referring to 756 cases of street harassment cases in Bangalore on New Year’s Eve, he said that the men find it hard to accept when women wear western clothing.
A deputy Minister disagreed with this statement of the home minister and said that men should have the power to accept women no matter how they are dressed. He said that is not an excuse to harass women.
As Muslims we should remember about the saying of the prophet about this matter. While performing Umra lot of female sahaabas of the Prophet unveil themselves by accident. In these cases even the male sahaabas could not resist looking at them. The prophet instructed the females to properly cover themselves up.
Maldivian men usually do not harass women even though a lot of women in Maldives dress inappropriately. Men in Maldives are courageous for not employing the ways of the devil.
Even though some people, label Maldives as a place with extremists, there are no religious scholars who harass women who wear clothes like this. Even regular people do not harass women like that.
