BML introduce cashless payments for local taxis

BML introduces the new cashless payment solution for local taxis as part of the bank’s digitalization roadmap.
Moreover, the national bank of Maldives aims to support and implement a cashless society.
With BML’s newest service introduction, cab drivers can now accept contactless payments from BML MobilePay.
Meanwhile, customers can scan the QR code on the driver’s mobile device or in display inside the cab using BML MobilePay.
The cashless payment service is available for taxi drivers with BML’s mPOS solution.
Earlier on Monday morning, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula officially made introduction of the service.
Following service introduction, the minister and BML CEO Tim Sawyer donated hand sanitizers and face masks to taxi drivers.
Moreover, the bank’s CEO note the new service “enables customers to carry out transactions in an easy, fast and secure manner.”
BML MobilePay is the bank’s digital wallet app usable for contactless payments.
The app connects customers’ existing BML cards to the digital wallet.
