Leader of Jumhoory Party (JP) Qasim Ibrahim was summoned again to Maldives Police Service on Wednesday.
Qasim’s lawyers team confirmed that he was called to present himself at Police headquarters at 4 pm on Wednesday but could not verify to which case he was interrogated.
Police also recently raided Qasim’s residence and company building after the lawmaker was charged with three different allegations. Police did not find any relevant evidence in the raids.
Qasim’s lawyers have expressed concern over Police trying to find evidence against him after the beginning of his trial. Qasim was released after six days of arrest under a court order declaring that his arrest was unlawful according to the Parliamentary Privileges Act.
