An educated person possesses strong moral values, First Lady Sajida Mohamed has said, speaking at the 20th anniversary celebrations of Mianz College.
In her address, the First Lady noted that Mianz College had achieved remarkable success within a relatively short period. She added that the government welcomes the institution's contribution to providing a strong national foundation for nurturing a capable and responsible new generation.
Describing development as the transformation of the individual and education as the vehicle through which such transformation is achieved, the First Lady reminded students of the values and good conduct that are the hallmarks of an educated person. She urged students to remain steadfast in their faith, loyal to their nation, diligent in their endeavours, and proud of their identity as Maldivian citizens.
At the ceremony, Ahmed Muttaqi, Founder and Chairman of Mianz College, presented the First Lady with a commemorative gift on behalf of the institution. Commemorative plaques were presented to members of staff in recognition of their long and dedicated service to the college, marking milestones of 5, 10 and 15 years.
