Once democracy is perfected in Maldives all political problems will be solved: AK

Deputy Leader of JP, Abdullah Kamaaluhdeen (AK) have said that once democracy is perfected in Maldives all the problems in Maldives will be solved.
Speaking at a gathering held at Kunooz by the opposition coalition last night, Abdulla Kamaaluddeen said that he does not believe that Maldives is at an infant stage of democracy. He said that what happened was the work done for democracy was stopped at a certain stage.
AK said that Maldives started going towards democracy with a special road map and after a while it was stopped. He said that problems started arising after that.
“The world is evolving and hence there are changes that needs to be brought. Even the road map should be revised. So acting upon it after revising will help in solving these problems” said AK.
Abdullah Kamaaluddeen said that when he became the Home Minister in the final years of Maumoon administration there was no legislation for the police. He said that with the work he and the instituitions did, the police legislation was passed with votes from all the parliament members including the opposition and the government members.
He said that under the police legislation they can act independently and what is required is acting independently. Hesaid that 2007-2008 were the most politically turbulent days in the history of Maldives but even so, no political leaders were arrested during those days.
