Maldives lift inaugural SAFF Futsal Championship trophy

The Maldives have lifted the trophy of the inaugural SAFF Futsal Championship, emerging as champions of South Asian futsal.
The national team was presented with the trophy at a special ceremony held after the conclusion of the final match of the tournament.
Maldives secured the championship by winning all of their matches in the competition, asserting dominance throughout the tournament.
In their opening match, Maldives defeated Pakistan 7–1, followed by a 6–1 victory over Bangladesh. They then went on to beat India 5–0 and Nepal 2–1.
Maldives played Bhutan in the fifth match of the tournament, winning 4–1. The final match of the competition was won 5–2, completing an unbeaten run.
The Maldives secured the championship title with their victory over Bhutan, with one match still remaining at the time. The team finished top of the table with 18 points from six matches.
Maldives also recorded the highest number of goals scored in the tournament. Team captain Mohamad Imran emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, netting nine goals.
In addition, Maldives conceded the fewest goals in the competition, allowing only six goals throughout the tournament.
This marks the first SAFF futsal championship, and with their title victory, the Maldives have etched their name in golden letters in the history of regional futsal.
