The digitalisation of statistics recorded by government centers providing blood transfusion services have commenced.
Speaking at a ceremony held on the occasion of the World Blood Donor Day, Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said the digitidation of blood donation statistics will help identify the amount of blood donated, the situations and regions where blood is most needed. The information collected will be used to strengthen research and facilitate the formulation of blood service policies in the Maldives.
The Minister said the latest testing methods will be used to ensure safe blood donation. With this change, the donor collection criteria for determining blood donors will be formulated and implemented in September this year, he said.
