The construction project of Haddhun Mathi (Laamu) Atoll Link Road has been inaugurated.
The Link Road construction project of Laamu Atoll was inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Chinese Ambassador designated to Maldives Wang Fukang، in a special ceremony held at Laamu Atoll Fonadhoo on Monday evening.
The asphalted link road will be constructed between Laamu Fonadhoo and Laamu Gan by the $30 million free aid of the Chinese Government.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the contractors have reported that the project will be completed within 18 months، while the agreement was signed with the road construction to be completed within 24 months.
He highlighted that the Link Road will be a key foundation for the development of Laamu Atoll.
Dr. Muizzu further said the natural design of the islands being like pathways، allow an easy construction of the Link Road with all the islands.
