The International Conference on Social Research and Innovation has started this morning at Villa College with 25 delegates.
The theme of the conference is “Changing lives-developing countries”.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, the rector of Villa College, Dr.Ahmad Anwar said that the purpose of holding such a conference is to understand the social and economic problems faced by developing countries.
He said that gathering ideas from different perspectives will enable further research.
Dr.Anwar said that scholars from Asia, South East Asia and Europe are taking part in the conference. He noted that this is the first ever international research conference held by an educational institution in Maldives.
The keynote speech of the conference will be delivered by a senior professor at the West of England University who is working with Villa Collage.
The professor has arrived in Maldives today to take part in the conference. Around 37 researchers submitted research papers to the conference but not all of them were able to participate in the conference due to personal reasons.
Everyone who submitted papers were able to participate for free and the best research paper will get an award.
Dr.Anwar said that this conference will be very useful to Maldives and that every year they will hold a research conference in Maldives.
