Authorities re-open outlying road closed off for Coral Boulevard Project

Authorities have re-opened the region closed off in the outer lying Boduthakurufaanu Magu for the development of the Rasfannu Mixed Use Development Project, more commonly known as Coral Boulevard Project.
The wall put up to block the road by the authorities for the development project was taken down on Tuesday after authorities had carried out the required work to make it practical for the public.
The decision to re-open the road comes after Chang Hua Construction group, tasked with the construction of the Coral Boulevard which includes four 25 to 28 storey towers with residential bedrooms and hotel rooms as well as retail stores, decided to move the development project to Male’s suburban extension Hulhumale, reports some media outlets and the President’s Office.
City Council earlier revealed that they would be re-opening the road in January but that the delay is caused due to agreements made between the construction company and Housing Ministry.
The council also revealed that they decided to re-open the roads to make it more convenient for parents and students taking longer routes to schools nearby.
One of the 100-meter-long towers are to be developed as a luxury hotel with 228 bedrooms. The hotel tower is to measure 8,600 square feet. The other three towers are to contain 533 residential flats ranging from two-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments. The second tower is to measure 10,000 square feet and the third to measure 13,000 square feet. The development project was to take up a plot of land measuring 70,000 square feet.
While the towers will be built around 15 percent of greenery, they are to contain recreational facilities such as swimming pools, a playground for children as well as a barbeque area.
