Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)، who calls on the freedom of rights – especially the freedom of press – barred Sangu TV from covering an event at MDP Haruge، and sent the media off from the location last night.
The media reporters and cameramen were sent off from covering an event at MDP Haruge last night، by MDP senior officials، including former fisheries minister Dr. Didi.
Sangu TV was obstructed from covering the event saying the exclusive press rights to cover the party events were given to Raajje TV.
However، exclusive press rights are not practiced by political parties elsewhere، unless for a commercial event.
Following the incident، Sangu TV – which was sent off from an MDP event previously as well – said they will stand firm in their broadcasting despite the challenges.
