Home Minister Ahmed Zuhoor has stated that if the Police become politicized, then the situation will grow worse. He appealed to Officers not to get involved in any political movement.
He made the statement in the official ceremony held to mark the Police Memorial Day held this evening in Iskandar Koshi.
Zuhoor warned against political movements, stating that political leaders will resort to half truths and lies in order to achieve their objectives. He said Police officers have to be aware of this and work in alliance to achieve their mandates.
He said that today we witness the ill treatment towards Police officers, but appealed to officers to follow their mandates and fulfill their national obligations in spite of the challenges.
Zuhoor added that all citizens were different and ascribed to different ideologies, but stated that personal beliefs had to take a back seat over national service. He said the challenges were many given that some individuals acted on personal beliefs.
Zuhoor challenges to the economy and national sovereignty were affected due to erroneous reports to the international community, adding that as these challenges became more, they had over time gotten bigger.
Zuhoor said that we have to fear only entity and appealed to the officers to adhere to this when serving the nation.
