Supreme Court of the Maldives has ordered to delay the execution of former President Nasheed’s jail sentence.
Supreme Court issued this order after the Prosecutor General submitted Nasheed’s case to the Supreme Court for review.
Former President Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison for illegally arresting Abdullah Mohammed the former chief judge of the Criminal Court. Nasheed served few months in prison before he was granted permission to leave the country for medical treatment. Since then he has been residing in Colombo and London. He was granted asylum by the British government.
President Nasheed said that he will return to Maldives on 1st November.
